Rosa Elena Tarke

Rosa Elena Paulina Cuesta Tarke, 91, of Summit, NJ passed away peacefully at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, with her loving family by her side, on March 3, 2026.

Rosa was born in Mantua, Pinar Del Rio Cuba. She was the daughter of Nieves Quintana Ruiz Cuesta and Manuel Ramon Cuesta.

She had worked in the Ministry of Communications of Cuba as a Radio Telegrapher. It was there that she met her beloved husband, Jorge. After fleeing from Cuba, her family settled in Summit, NJ, where she ultimately worked at Ciba Geigy for decades until she retired to Weston, Florida. When her husband became ill, they returned to Summit in 2022.

Rosa was a hard worker, and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid fan of Univison 41, especially of Damaris Diaz and Jonathan Inoa, whose visit with Rosa in the hospital in recent days brought her great joy.

Rosa was pre-deceased in 2023 by her beloved husband of over 70 years, Jorge Thelmo Tarke. She is survived by her loving children, Jorge Rafael Tarke and his wife Barbara and Lori Dianne Tarke; her cherished grandchildren, George Adam Tarke, Ryan Justin Tarke, Gianna Tarke-Flora, and Daniela Tarke-Flora and her beloved caregivers, Erika, Yanela, and Jose.

Funeral services are private.
