Obituary for Rosalie Mitchell

Rosalie Mitchell, age 76, passed away peacefully at her longtime home in Navarre, Florida on February 7, 2026. Rosalie was born in Sasebo, Japan on December 14,1949 and lived in Northwest Florida for over 40 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul L. Mitchell, mother Natsue Palmisano and stepfather Sal Palmisano. Together her and Paul built a life centered on family, love, and friendship.

Rosalie is survived by her daughter, Aeiko Mitchell (Anthony Zengotita); her brother, Phillip (Dang) Prisco; her nephews, Steven (Jennifer) LaMadeleine, Michael Prisco, and Phillip Prisco; her brother-in-law, David (Peggy) Mitchell; her nieces, Anna Ganse, Liz Minamitani, and Traci Nelson. She is further remembered by Chris (Debra) Mitchell and David (Sandy)Mitchell; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Mitchell and Michael Mitchell, and extended family in Nagasaki, Japan.

Rose and Paul were the owners of a family business, a local campground in Navarre, Florida, where she and her husband welcomed people from around the world. Through this work, they formed countless friendships that became lifelong bonds.

A magnetic force who brought people together, Rose was the heart of her social circle and the center of many gatherings. She leaves behind an immense and loving community of friends who were truly her chosen family.

Her life was marked by warmth, generosity, and an extraordinary ability to make others laugh and smile. Rosalie's legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the friendships she nurtured, and the many lives she touched.

A memorial service will be held at Lewis Funeral Home in Navarre, Florida, on Sunday, March 1, visitation from 1:00-2:00 pm with service starting at 2:00 p.m., followed by a private inurnment at Barrancas National Cemetery on March 2nd. In lieu of flowers the family asks that any memorial donations or contributions be made to the YMCA of Northwest Florida or the Holley-Navarre Seniors Association.

The family extends sincere gratitude to her caregivers, who provided devoted care, compassion, and comfort for more than a year.
