Rose Marie "Dodie" Becker

Rose Marie "Dodie" Becker, 76, of Abilene, Kansas, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, surrounded by her son and family.
Born and raised in Abilene, Dodie was the beloved daughter of Guadalupe and Hilario Gil. She grew up in a loving family and attended Catholic parochial school before graduating from Abilene High School in 1967, where she was a proud member of the drill team. She later continued her education at Salt City Business College in Hutchinson, Kansas.
In 1972, Dodie married Gary Becker, and in 1975, they welcomed their son, Christopher, who became the joy of her life. She was also an extremely proud and adoring grandmother to her grandson, Weston Becker. Her love for her family was constant, deep, and unwavering.
Dodie worked as a receptionist for Duckwall-Alco, where she built many friendships and found great pride in her career before retiring. Throughout her life, she cherished her friends, loved animals, and greeted everyone she met with kindness and warmth.
In 2020, Dodie moved to Stilwell, Kansas, to live with and be near her son. This time spent with her son and grandson was a special blessing, and she treasured the closeness it brought.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. A devout Catholic, Dodie's love for Jesus guided her through every season. She prayed daily, lived her faith openly, and inspired those around her with her devotion.
Even after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, Dodie's strength and grace shone brightly. She lived courageously with her illness, and faced every day with resilience, and love.
Dodie is survived by her son, Christopher Becker; her grandson, Weston Becker; and her sisters, Esperanza Rufener, Caroline Ward, and Christina Copeland. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Hilario Gil, and her sisters, Pamela Gil and Virginia Gil.
She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend-a woman of unshakable faith, gentle spirit, and a heart full of love. Dodie will be dearly missed by her family and all who had the blessing of knowing her.
The Rosary will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the St. Andrew's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew's Catholic Church with Father Peter O'Donnell as Celebrant. Her final resting place will be in the Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery north of Abilene. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Andrew's Catholic Church and may be sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home, 501 N.
