It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Bruno of Elmhurst Township, PA, on July 5, 2025, at the age of 95. Rose was born on July 29, 1929, in Long Island City, NY, married her loving husband Michael Bruno in 1950, and later lived in Staten Island, NY, before moving to St. Mary's Villa Residence in Elmhurst Township, PA, in 2019 at the age of 89. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loyal friend to many. Rose will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Leonardo and Rosa Lichinchi, her husband, Michael, and her siblings Albina Lichinchi, Marie Belfi, Yolanda Lichinchi (Sr. Leonard Marie) and Louis Lichinchi. She is survived by her sister, Louisa Eraclio, children Susan Bruno, Dianne (Albert) Luberto; her grandchildren, Jessica (Devin) Sherry, Andrea (Joseph) Vilone, Michael Zito, Nicholas (Liz)Zito, and her great-grandchildren, Caleb Sherry, Nolan Sherry, Lucas Vilone, Noah Vilone, Brennan Sherry and Christopher Zito.
Rose worked at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. After marrying in 1950, she moved to Staten Island, NY, and remained there until moving to Pennsylvania in 2019. Rose was a volunteer at Carmel Nursing Home for many years. She was also a member of the Richmond Town Historical Society and volunteered at the Bennet Café. She had a zest for life and learning and wanted to live it to the fullest! She loved going into Manhattan to visit museums and walk around the city. She had many hobbies, including crafting of all kinds, needlepoint, and most of all, a love for painting. She painted so much at St. Mary's that she would sell her paintings to residents and staff and donate the money to the North Pocono Food Bank. She continued to paint until her final days. Rose was always the life of the party. She was so proud of her heritage and her age, and told everyone how old she was! Rose was a devout Catholic and always tried to live her life faithfully.
Rose's greatest joy was to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren. We are so grateful that she was able to spend a beautiful day with family the day before her passing. Rose will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and the residents and staff at St. Mary's Villa Residence.
On Friday, July 11, 2025, visitation will be held at Hanley Funeral Home, 60 New Dorp Lane, Staten Island, NY from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church, 53 St. Patrick's Place, Staten Island, NY at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Road, Staten Island, NY.
