Rose Marie Robinson Burden, 69, of Stafford,Texas, passed away peacefully on June 7th, 2025.
Rose Marie was born November 19th, 1955 in Franklin, Louisiana, the Daughter of Nola Robinson and Elnora Henry Robinson. Rose also known as "Monkie" to family members, gave her life to Christ at a young age, going to attending New Providence in Centerville, Louisiana church as a little girl with her mother and close relatives. She graduated from Franklin Senior High School in 1973, then moved to Houston Texas after graduating in that same year. She soon enrolled in Bryman Nursing school, where she graduated in 1974. Upon graduation, she worked at Methodist Hospital for one year before leaving to work as an EKG Technician for The Veterans Administration at the Michael E. DeBakey Hospital. She received many awards and accolades for her dedication to her work before she retired after 34 years of service, as a supervisor. Rose had two daughters with her first husband the late Ned Thomas of Opelousas, Neonne Marie Thomas Abiola and Nedra Thomas. She later married Joseph Burden on December 24th, 1992, gaining a son Joseph Burden III, and a step-daughter. Her love of the church followed her to Houston, Texas, where she attended Good Hope Baptist Church and later Fountain of Praise. To know Rose, was to know a genuine sweet soul. She never knew a stranger and always looked for ways to make others feel special, often taking the time to sit and talk with anyone in need. She was an advocate of education and was an inspiration to those that she came in contact with. No matter what she went through in life she remained stagnant in her faith and would often say, I know that God's got me. Rose always chose to see the good in life versus the bad, even while dealing with her own struggles, she always took the time to be grateful to God and praise his name. She loved her grandchildren, often putting their needs before her own. She loved doing various arts & crafts, being active in her grandchildren's lives, trying different cakes or sweets, and watching westerns. Her favorite music to listen to was Willie Hutch, but she also loved Jack Harlow. Rose had a laugh that was contagious and a personality that was so magnetic, it made her memorable to anyone she came in contact with.
Rose Marie Robinson Burden will forever be missed, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Remaining to cherish Rose Marie Robinson Burden's memory are her spouse; Joseph Burden, children; daughters Neonne' Marie Thomas Abiola & Nedra Thomas; son Joseph Burden III & a step-daughter, grand children; grandson-Isaiah Thomas & granddaughter-Shanaz Aftab, in addition to a bonus granddaughter Zarinah Aftab, and a God-Daughter Destinee Rice.
