Josephine Burden, age 95, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into rest in her home on Sunday, August 24, 2025 with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of the late Stanley Burden. Josephine was born in New York City on July 11, 1930, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Tavolacci, and lived most of her life in the Bronx before coming to Ansonia in 2013.

She worked for the NYC Board of Elections before her retirement. She was an avid yankee fan and loved to cook and loved family gatherings

She is the beloved mother of Joseph Burden, Steven Burden, and Laurie Setters (Kerry), and proud grandmother of Joseph Burden, Jr. Josephine was one of nine children, and is survived by a brother Pasquale Tavolacci and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Thursday August 28, 2025 from 9 am to 11 am in the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. Her funeral service will be held following the visitation on Thursday at 11 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in State Veteran Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.adzimafh.com
