Rose Ann Callahan, age 68, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
Rose was born in Salem, Indiana, to the late Ray and Jean Campbell. A lifelong educator and faithful servant, she dedicated nearly 30 years of her life to shaping young minds as a grade school teacher at East Washington Elementary. Her gentle spirit, unwavering patience, and genuine love for children left an indelible mark on generations of students who were blessed to call her "Mrs. Callahan."
Her heart for ministry extended far beyond the classroom. As the Director of Christian Education at First Christian Church of Jeffersonville, Rose poured her time, talents, and deep faith into nurturing the spiritual growth of others. Whether leading children's programs, singing joyfully in the praise band and choir, or offering a word of encouragement to a friend, Rose's presence radiated warmth, faith, and love.
Of all her roles, none was more treasured than being "Mimi" to her beloved granddaughter, Emma Jane Florence Steinbock. Emma was the light of her life, her greatest joy, and the heartbeat of her days. To Emma, she was more than a grandmother, she was a constant source of love, laughter, and strength.
Rose was also known for her creativity and her joy in making a house a home. She found happiness in decorating for every season, transforming her space into a reflection of the beauty and gratitude she carried within her heart. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose love was steady and boundless.
She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Mike Callahan; her cherished daughter, Heather Steinbock (Drew); and her precious granddaughter, Emma Jane Florence Steinbock. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Campbell.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway. Additional visitation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at First Christian Church of Jeffersonville, 3209 Middle Road, followed by a celebration of Rose's life at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
