Rose Cook Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Grace Memorial Life Celebration Center - Kimball Township on Feb. 11, 2026.
Rose Ann Cook, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, at Marwood Nursing and Rehab at the age of 81. Born on July 9, 1944, in Port Huron, Michigan, Rose was the loving daughter of the late William and Mary (Bruins) Gillis.

Rose's legacy is lovingly carried on by her three children: William Cook of Port Huron, John Cook of Kimball, and Anne (Dana) Smith of Kimball. Her laughter and stories will forever echo in the hearts of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she adored beyond measure. Rose is also survived by her caring brother, Bob Gillis, and her dear sister, Barb Waltenburg, along with numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her life.

Her husband, Verne Cook, whom she missed dearly since his passing on March 24, 2014, now reunites with Rose in eternal peace. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, John Gillis, Bill Bruins, and Jim Gillis.

Rose's zest for life was contagious. She loved the holidays with a passion, with Halloween holding a special place in her heart. Rose enjoyed fishing and watching the boats glide by, and it was a simple pleasure that brought her joy. Her sense of style and creativity shone brightly through her love of decorating. Rose's competitive spirit came alive during Bingo. Above all, Rose cherished the time spent with her family and friends.

Rose Ann Cook's life was a journey of love, laughter, and lasting memories. As we bid her farewell, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the indelible impact she made on all who were blessed to know her. Her spirit will remain a guiding light, reminding us to embrace the beauty of life with the same warmth and affection she shared so generously.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Grace Memorial Life Celebration Center, 4521 Ravenswood Road, Kimball, MI 48074. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and services will follow at 6:00 p.m. Reverend Dr. G. Patrick Thompson will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to "Wishes of the Family".
