With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of Rose Marie “Rosie” DeCarish, born on June 10, 1948, New Roads, Jamaica, West Indies. Rosie was a radiant soul whose warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit left an incredible mark on everyone she met.
She is survived by her devoted son, Kevin Gilchrist; her loving daughter-in-law, Joanne Gilchrist; and her cherished grandsons, Roman and Xavier Gilchrist.
Rosie’s memory lives on through her beloved sisters; Veronica Thal DeCarish and Maxine Gilchrist, and her brothers Norman DeCarish and Patrick DeCarish. Her legacy continues through her nieces Carolyn Gilchrist, Amanda Prowell, Neena DeCarish, Krishna DeCarish, Tia Decarish, Brianna DeCarish, Britnie DeCarish, Erin DeCarish, Tyler DeCarish, and her nephews Peter Singh, Michael Singh, James Barr, Christopher Barr, Jean Pierre, Gordon Prowell, Ian Prince, William Myrie, Horace Gilchrist Jr, Steven Gilchrist, Norman DeCarish Jr., Corey Mullings, Benji DeCarish, Christopher Levy and a host of grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Cecil DeCarish, mother Icyline Hanson DeCarish, and sister Dorothy Prince, whose memories she held dear and close to her heart.
A proud alumna of Baruch College and Pace University in New York City, Rosie was a lifelong learner who deeply valued education and personal growth. She found joy in cooking, socializing with friends, and nurturing her backyard garden, which flourished with fruit trees, vegetables, and spices.
Rosie was a woman of deep compassion and generosity, always ready to support charitable causes and lend a helping hand to those in need Everyone who had the privilege of knowing her will always remember her kindness, laughter, and unwavering love.
Among her closest friends were Donett Morris, Kerline Leonard, and Hopal Blake, who stood by her through life’s many seasons.
Rosie’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, family, friendship, and service. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Services for Rose Marie DeCarish will be held at Haisley Tribute Center, located at 2041 Southwest Bayshore Boulevard, Port Saint Lucie, Florida, on Friday, October 17, 2025. A visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 6:00 p.m. to honor and celebrate her life.
Rose Marie's final resting place will be at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum in Farmingdale, New York.
