Robert Barone Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home, Inc. on Feb. 17, 2026.
Robert R. Barone, 89, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, with family by his side at Greenwich Hospital. Born in 1936, he was the youngest son of the late Francis A. and Elizabeth M. Barone (Cordo). A lifelong resident of White Plains, he was predeceased by his four siblings: Elizabeth C. Jensen (Barone), Marie C. Rode (Barone), Frank A. Barone, and Mildred F. Marchiante (Barone).

Bob is survived by his loving wife of nearly 58 years, Elizabeth A. Barone (Ambrogio); his two daughters, Laura Barone and Catherine Barone; as well as his cherished grandsons, Milo and Luca Barone who brought him endless joy.

Bob was the youngest son of Italian-American immigrants. As the last child in the home, he took care of his mother until her illness required more extensive care. They lived together until he was 30 years old. He was affectionately referred to as "Bobby Dick" by his siblings and sometimes "Uncle Bobby" by his 14 nieces and nephews.

He graduated from White Plains High School and later returned to school at Pace University in White Plains, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Business.

His career in finance began at County Trust Company, which later became the Bank of New York. He retired as a Vice President in the Trust and Estate Department after several decades of employment there. He was a trusted resource, known both for his thoroughness and his rapport with his colleagues.

He volunteered at different times in his life, including with Literacy Volunteers, teaching English to those for whom it was a second language. Together with his wife, they were foster parents to three infants.

Bob was a family man through and through and believed that "if you had family, you had everything." He was known for always showing up at family gatherings and for his close connection with his siblings and extended family.

A lifelong piano player and lover of classical music, he enjoyed going to Lincoln Center, where he took his future wife on their second date to see live musical performances.

His legacy of love and loyalty will continue through the many hearts and souls his life has touched.
