Rose Derise Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Demarco-Luisi Funeral Home on Mar. 2, 2026.
Rose Derise (née Mosenthine), age 95, devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother, was called to rest on February 18, 2026.

Born and raised in Jersey City, Rose met the love of her life, Lucien (Lou) Derise, and the two married in 1952. They shared 66 years of marriage before Lou's passing in 2018, building a life grounded in faith, family, and generosity.

Together, they raised three sons who adored her. Rose had a gift for caring for others and always put their needs before her own. She served as a devoted Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, shared her beautiful singing voice in the choirs at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Jersey City and St. Michael's Catholic Church in Minotola (after relocating to South Jersey during retirement), and was an active member of the Rosary Society. She also taught CCD at both parishes, touching countless young lives with her kindness and patience.

Rose loved to bake, crochet, and give of herself in quiet, meaningful ways. Even after stepping away from the church choir, her love of singing never faded. During her years at Sunrise of Jackson, she continued to sing, often daily, bringing joy to residents, staff, and visitors alike.

Rose is survived by her three sons: Joseph (Joe), Frank (Elaine), and Michael (Jessica); her seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Brian), Lauren (Joe), Jessica (Sam), Frank, Nicole (Anthony), Caitlynn, and Michael (Sidney); and her two great grandchildren, Norah and Sean. She is also lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews.

Rose's life was defined by faith, service, and a heart that never stopped giving. Her voice, her warmth, and her unwavering love will be deeply missed.

Family and friends will be received from 10:30am until 11:00am followed by a funeral mass at 11:00am on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, Church of St. Michael, 504 S W Ave, Minotola, NJ 08341. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider making a donation to Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish, 104 Catawba Ave., Newfield, NJ 08344.
