Rose Lenahan Obituary
Rose Mary Lenahan of Sussex, died peacefully on May 1, 2025 at home surrounded by her family. She was 75 years old.
The daughter of the late Mary and Patrick Harley, she was born on May 10, 1949 in Donegal, Ireland.
Rose Mary dedicated much of her life to supporting students as a school aide, retiring from Sparta High School after many years of service. Known for her warm spirit and sharp Irish wit, Rose Mary had a remarkable ability to make anyone feel like a friend. She could strike up a conversation with a stranger and leave them smiling, touched by her humor and sincerity. An avid gardener, she found peace and joy among her flowers, always appreciating the company of the birds and animals drawn to her yard. Her generous spirit and unforgettable presence left an impression on all who knew her.
Beloved wife of John J. Lenahan. Devoted mother of Martin Madden (Alison) and Richard Lenahan (Mary). Loving grandmother of Aiden & Liam Madden and Gavin Lenahan. Cherished sister of Pat James Harley (Bridget), Kathleen Healey (The Late Ben), Hughie Harley, Bridget Lynch (The Late Charlie), Eddie Harley, Marion Curran (The Late Frank), Ann Downey (Mannix), John Harley (Ann), Mick Harley, Margaret McGarrigle, Kevin Harley (Leanna) and the late Bernadette Walsh.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday from 2 to 4:00PM and 6 to 8:00PM at the Knight - Auchmoody Funeral Home. Final viewing Wednesday 9:00AM at the Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10AM at St. Mary's RC Church, Port Jervis. Immediately following burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
