Rose Marie Williams Melton passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, in McKinney, Texas, just five days shy of her 88th birthday. Born in Wood County on May 10, 1937, Rose was the daughter of Herman and Hazel Williams.
After graduating from Woodrow Wilson in 1955, she attended the University of Texas at Austin and later began a successful 35-year career as an executive secretary for E-Systems in Garland, retiring in 1993.
On November 26, 1965, Rose married the love of her life, Ray Emory Melton in Honolulu Hawaii. They shared 50 wonderful years together before his passing in 2016. The couple made their home in Garland for over two decades before retiring to Hainesville, where they spent many beloved years. In her later years, Rose moved to Frisco to be closer to her children.
Faith was an important part of Rose's life. She was a longtime member of St. Davids Episcopal church in Garland, Texas and later after moving back to Mineola, St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church. She also participated in many events with family at Hainesville Baptist Church.
Rose had a passion for quilting and loved spending time at Stitchin’ Heaven, participating in quilting events and gatherings. She also worked part-time for the Mineola Monitor after retirement. An avid reader and genealogy enthusiast, she spent countless hours researching family history and sharing stories with loved ones.
Above all, Rose adored her family. Her grandchildren lovingly called her "Granny," and her warmth, wit, and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Rose is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Hazel Williams; husband, Ray Emory Melton; sister, LaNelle Davis; brother, Johnny Williams; and nephews, Shep Kidd and Mike Kidd and niece Cindy Williams Crook.
She is survived by her two children, Melanie Melton Parks and husband John of Lavon, and Danny Melton and wife Merydith of Prosper; four grandchildren, Katherine Marie Parks, Peyton Elizabeth Parks, Emmery Grace Melton, and Landry Rose Melton; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Graveside service for Rose Melton will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Concord Cemetery with Brother Fred Morrow officiating.
