In loving memory of Rose Rita Gallo Modica, a cherished daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose gentle spirit and culinary prowess lit the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Born on May 13, 1939, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, Rose graced the world with her warmth and kindness until her departure on March 7, 2026, in the serene town of Covington, Louisiana.
Rose's life was a tapestry woven with passion and love. She found joy in the simple joys of life—planting a garden that flourished with vibrant colors, canning tomatoes that danced with the echoes of summer, and crafting homemade breadcrumbs that were the secret ingredient in her famous gravy meatballs, enjoyed by family and friends alike. A spirited presence, she relished the thrill of a casino visit, bringing spontaneity and laughter to every gathering.
Her legacy is carried forth by her beloved family: her sons, Anthony Modica (Lesley), Ronald Modica (Cheryl), Joe Modica (Chloe); her daughter, Tricia M. Foster (Calvin); and her dear brother, Victor Gallo. Rose Rita took immense pride in her grandchildren, including Crystal Couvillion (Shane), Jesse Modica (Carrie), Chelsy Karpa (Sean), Jennifer Morgan (Terry), Melanie Barton, Will Foster, Justin Modica (Lauren), and Jared Modica (Randi). The joy of her heart expanded even further with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Daylen, Tony, Jordan, Carlee, Cole, Presley, T-Paul, Drake, Charlotte, Bayler, Baker, and Miller.
Rose is reunited in eternal peace with her beloved parents, Joseph C. Gallo and Rosalie C. Gallo, and her sister-in-law, Norma Gallo. The bonds of family transcend time and space, and while she will be deeply missed, her memories will forever linger in the hearts of those who loved her.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the remarkable team of caregivers from Anvoi Hospice, truly angels on earth who provided Rose with the compassion and care she needed during her final days. Their kindness was a beacon of light in her journey, reflecting the love she has imparted to so many throughout her life.
A visitation to honor Rose will be held on March 11, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, located at 75212 Hwy 437, Covington, LA. Following the visitation, a Mass will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow in the Lakelawn Metairie Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a life beautifully lived, as they celebrate the indelible mark Rose Rita made upon their hearts.
In the embrace of her memories, let us carry forward the legacy of love she instilled in her family, forever cherishing the gentle touch of her hands and the warmth of her laughter.
