Rose Marie was born on June 11, 1930 on a farm near Elba, the daughter of Edward and Maggie (Curtis) Zalewski. She was baptized at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elba. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Farwell High School.

She was united in marriage to Leonard J. Olsufka on May 15, 1950, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Farwell. The couple lived on a farm near Farwell where they raised their eight children.

She was a very active member of St. Anthony's parish as a CCD teacher, member of the CCW, DCCW, Catholic Daughters of America, and parish correspondent for the West Nebraska Register.

Leonard and Rose moved to St. Paul after retiring. They then joined Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, where Rose served as one of the Prayer Chain Leaders for many years.

She was also a member of the Carl Mogensen American Legion Auxiliary Unit 119 of St. Paul and was a Gold Star Sister, having lost her brother Raymond during WWII.

She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing cards and reading.

She is survived by her children, Mary Olszowka, Kathy Olsufka and Jim Shiers, Steve and Theresa Olsufka, Mike and Brenda Olsufka, John and Julie Olsufka, Dan and Lisa Olsufka, Paul and Barb Olsufka, and David Olsufka; as well as, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Dianne Olsufka, Betty Noller, and Loretta (Robert) Moraczewski.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard on Sept. 12, 2009; her parents; brothers, Raymond, Gerry and David Zalewski; granddaughter, Amanda Olsufka' and great-grandchildren, Alizea and Lukas.
