Rose Ortiz (Mary Rosa Lucero) of San Antonio, Texas joined the husband she adored in heaven on June 13, 2025. She was born on April 4, 1945, to Rumaldo and Feliciana Lucero in Tecolotito, New Mexico. She spent most of her early years in New Mexico and later in Muleshoe, Texas where she met her "Hunny", the love of her life. She married John T. Ortiz, Sr., on August 2, 1969. They eventually made their home in Clovis, NM where they raised their family. They are members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church where they have celebrated many cherished family milestones. Rose was active with many organizations such as, Cursillo, Legion of Mary, Marriage Encounter, Marriage Enrichment, St. Matthew's Seniors, to name a few. She was active in all her children's activities including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, CHS Band Boosters, and others. She enjoyed working daycare and took care of the children of many families and friends as they grew up and loved them like her own.
Rose is survived by her children and grandchildren, John, Jr. and Rosamond, Paloma and Sonja, Frankie and Brandon, Lupe and Jarin. Sister-in-law, Margie Lucero, and numerous nieces and nephews that were all her "favorite".
She was preceded in death by her "Hunny", John T. Ortiz, Sr., her parents, and 14 sisters and brothers. They all received her with open arms and celebrated with our God! She was ready and looked forward to this joyous day! Our family looks forward to celebrating Mom's life with you all!
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 108 Davis St., Clovis, N.M. The family will arrive at 11:30a.m. to receive family and friends.
