Age 98, of Penn Hills, passed on Wednesday, December 25, 2024.
Beloved mother to Christopher Pirollo, Finishia (David) Barnett; Gram to George J. (Jennifer) Sears, Joseph J. (Maggie) Sears, Tia Barnett; Great-Gram to five great-grandchildren; aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Rufo & Elizabeth (Orgera) Tierno, she was preceded in her passing by her husband Joseph Pirollo; her son, Joseph R. Pirollo; sisters Pauline Corso, Amelia Tierno, Mary Grace (Tierno) Phillips; twin brother Carmen Anthony Tierno, Anthony Tierno.
Rose was born and raised in the Lincoln Avenue neighborhood in the east end of Pittsburgh, before moving to Penn Hills in the '70's.
Rose traveled to Italy in 1950 where she married the love of her life Joseph in Spigno Saturnia.
Rose was a homemaker for most of her life. She cherished her family and often watched over her grandchildren. Rose prioritized her family in all ways, caring for her disabled son for 12 years before his passing. Rose assisted her husband Joseph in his neighborhood grocery store, often cleaning and helping out where needed. In later life, Rose lived at the Presbyterian Senior Care at the Willows, becoming greatly loved by the residents and staff there, her playfulness and spicy wit winning over all who met her. She was a pillar of her family and will be greatly missed.
She greatly loved her brothers and sisters.
Friends received, Monday, 2:00 pm-8:00 pm at Soxman Funeral Homes, Ltd./Roth Chapel,7450 Saltsburg Road (at Universal Road) Penn Hills. Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Parish. Interment in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rose's name may be made to the Presbyterian Senior Care Foundation, 1215 Hulton Road, Oakmont, PA 15135, or Community Life, 125 Logans Ferry Rd Suite 2, Lower Burrell, PA 15068.
