Rose Renata (Sylwestrzak) Strohauer-Rabior, 71, of Washington Township, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Corewell Health Troy Hospital.

She was born on February 4, 1954, at St. Francis Hospital in Hamtramck, Michigan, to Stanislaw and Stanislawa Sylwestrzak.

Rose lived most of her youth in Detroit, where she attended St. Louis the King Grade School and Osborn High School, where she was a 1972 graduate. She continued her education and graduated from Harper Hospital School of Nursing in 1974. Rose was a determined young woman and worked at Burger King as a manager while going to school and working at Harper Hospital. Most of her nursing career was with American Red Cross Blood Service - 39 years as a staff nurse, head nurse, and the last 15 years in management. Her passion for nursing didn't stop there; Rose was the head of the Nurses Union for over 20 years, negotiating many very successful contracts benefiting not only the nurses but also the wonderful donors who selflessly gave their blood. She gained the respect of both the staff and other management so much so that when she first went into management, she was the only one in management who was allowed to negotiate a contract on the nurses' side. Rose retired in May of 2014.

Rose enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren, walking, spending time by the water (beach or sitting on her son Zak's memorial bench in Port Huron), crossword and word puzzles, reading, especially books on philosophy, metaphysics and spirituality. She was a firm believer that the body naturally knows how to heal itself and loved doing yoga and qigong for that purpose.

Survived by her loving children, Daniel (Stacey) Strohauer, Sara (Kevin Steward) Rabior, and David (Lisa) Rabior; and her precious grandchildren, Leo and Cooper Strohauer; her dear brother, Ernie, and sister-in-law, Alina, and brother-in-law, Ron Dwyer, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by her loving son, Zakary Rabior; parents, Stanislaw and Stanislawa Sylwestrzak; sister, Agnes Dwyer and her children's fathers, Jack Strohauer and Michael Rabior.

The family honors the memory of Rose and invites you to visit and share memories Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond, with a sharing of memories at 6:00 p.m.
