Roseann Marberger Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by William H. Clark Funeral Home, Inc. on Jan. 3, 2023.
Roseann Marberger, 80, died of natural causes on December 30, 2022 while in residence at Slate Belt Health and Rehabilitation Center, Bangor where she had been a resident for 2 ½ years.
Born in West Reading, she was a daughter of the late William B. and Mabel M. (Mengel) Marberger and the sister of the late Carolyn Mae (Marberger) Calpino who predeceased her on June 18, 2003.
She was the lifelong loving partner of the late Barbara Jane Kemmerer who predeceased her on January 24, 2011. Roseann often said that their lives were filled with hard work and sometimes too much fun. They spent many years vacationing in Wildwood, NJ, and brought home many of their Boardwalk prizes each year.
Roseann was a 1960 graduate of Muhlenberg High School and attended East Stroudsburg University as a registered nursing student; the program did not allow women to work outside the nursing program in 1962. This rule squelched her nursing dreams, so she entered the physical education program until 1964. She was a faithful member of the Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale, PA.
She and Barbara moved to NJ and worked at Gulton Industries in S. Plainfield. They moved back to Stroudsburg and became the owners of the Candle Nook on Rte 611 in Bartonsville. Roseann also spent many years as the store manager at the Bartonsville 76 Truck Stop. From May 1, 1992 - Jan 1, 2019, Roseann worked as a switchboard operator for Van Horn's Answering Service, where she retired at the age of 76.
Roseann enjoyed and excelled at bowling, cross stitch, and jigsaw puzzles and up until her move to the nursing home, read books so ardently that it was difficult to keep her library replenished. Her friends still mention her needleworks that are still displayed in their homes.
She is survived by her caregiver (Barbara's niece), Jacqueline Van Gorden of Stroudsburg, and nephews Scott Calpino and Jeffrey Calpino of Berks County, PA. She will be missed by Miss Molly Brown, toy poodle, for whom she "babysat" weekly.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1009 Elizabeth Ave, Laureldale, PA 19605.
As she wished, burial will be private with interment at St Thomas Reformed Church Cemetery, Bernville; there will be no service.
