Rosella Mae Hawk

Rosella Mae Hawk, 88, of Westhaven Community, passed away at Westhaven Community in Boone, Iowa, on Thursday, July 4, 2024. She had been a resident of Westhaven since September 2018.
She was born on July 11, 1935, in Creston, Nebraska, the daughter of Loyal Victor Palmateer and Pearl Christina (Jensen) Palmateer. She was a graduate of Stanhope High School in 1953. On May 16, 1953, Rosella married Richard Lee Sebring at the First Baptist Church in Jackson, Minnesota, and to this union, three children were born. She was baptized on April 24, 1960, at the First Baptist Church in Boone, Iowa. On July 26, 1974, Rosella married Robert Joseph Hawk at Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone, Iowa, and to this union, three step-children, along with their families, were welcomed.
Rosella worked with her first husband, Richard, on their farm in Boone County, growing crops and raising cattle and turkeys. She also worked at Bourns in Ames, Heinrich Envelope Company in Boone, the Ames Tribune, and at Iowa State University as a Secretary at the Memorial Union Bookstore. She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone. She enjoyed music, camping, motorcycle trips, and especially her family.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard L Sebring (1962); an unborn child; parents, Loyal and Pearl Palmateer; in-laws; and brother, Eugene Palmateer.
Rosella is survived by her husband, Robert J. Hawk of Boone, IA; daughters, Roberta Overton of Ames, IA, and Rosalie (Daryl) Petty of Boxholm, IA; sons, Richard (Bev) Sebring of Boone, IA, Roger (Lori) Sebring of Boone, IA, and Rodney (Cathy) Springer of Stanhope, IA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles (Dorothy) Palmateer of Ames, IA, and Ivan (Judy) Palmateer of Ames, IA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Survivors also include step-children: Robert (Carolyn) Hawk of Spearfish, SD, Janelle Hawk of Marshalltown, IA, and Brian (Lani) Hawk of Belle Plaine, IA, along with their children and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Boone. Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be before the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Mineral Ridge Cemetery in Boone County following the memorial service.
