Christie Ellen Alexander

Christie Ellen Alexander, age 84, of Boone, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.
Chris and Ivan married in Luther, Iowa, on December 30, 1959. They enjoyed their many trips to the casino in Tama. She may not have won often, but that never stopped her. Chris always kept everyone on their toes. You knew if she was feeling feisty, you might have to dodge a shoe being thrown. That's something that always stuck around as a family joke. Chris always loved hosting birthday and holiday parties and made sure everyone felt special.
Chris worked for Iowa State University for nearly 50 years. She enjoyed cheering on the Cyclones during football and basketball seasons.
Throughout life, Chris always kept the best snacks for her grandkids, and when she had great-grandkids, she inherited new nicknames from them. Emilia and Jack called her "Pizza Grandma," and Emerson called her "Snack Grandma." She carried those nicknames with pride.
Chris spent her last years with her friends at Regency, making many, many quilts. She'd rope in anyone willing to help her, and it brought her so much joy.
She was the best grandma and loved doing anything for her grandkids. She hosted Wednesday night dinners for years, and you'd always catch Wheel of Fortune playing in the background. Her spunk and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Chris is preceded in death by her husband, son, Mike, and 12 siblings. She is survived by her two sons, Carl and Don; grandkids, Cory, Taylor, Bailey, Madison, and Rory; and great-grandkids, Zoey, Owen, Emilia, Jack, Emerson, and Sawyer.
A big thank you goes out to the Eastern Star staff who cared for her in her final weeks. She appreciated the laughs and especially the Bingo prizes!
Private family burial will be at Boone Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Boone, Iowa.
