It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mom, Rosella Wittlin, just 2 short months after the loss of our Dad. Rosella May (Sommers) Wittlin was born September 14, 1932 in Hortonville, Wisconsin. She was the oldest of five children born to James and Alice Sommers. Rosella was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings.
In 1958 Rosella married Robert Wittlin. Together they raised four daughters: Brenda (Marty) Thiel, Beth Wittlin, Bridget (Andy) Matthiesen and Bonnie (Jim) Vaughn. They welcomed six grandchildren : Macaire (Chase) Hulderman, Millaine (Joshua) Finch, Molly (Justin) Schweitzer, Sam Matthiesen, Mason Vaughn and Henry Vaughn; and great-grandson Graham Hulderman.
Rosella grew up in Hortonville but spent most of her life as a homemaker in Appleton. In later years she worked outside of the home as a telephone operator and worked well into her 70s. Mom loved shopping and was always on the hunt for the elusive “Dottie match”. She was a great baker with a huge sweet tooth. Any visit home usually included a delicious homemade treat.
Visitation will be Saturday , April 26th from 11:00 am-12:00 with a funeral mass and luncheon to follow at St. Edward’s Church in Mackville.
Special thanks to St. Paul Elder Services and Touchmark who helped care for Mom in her final months.
“Mothers hold their children’s hands for a short while, but their hearts forever.” Mom, you will be missed.
