On February 27th long-time Hailey resident Rosemary "Ro" Coupe left us too soon. Ro was born near Philadelphia and lived her early life in the East. She earned a degree at Gwynedd Mercy College, then did accounting work in Southeast Pennsylvania and New Jersey. However, once she vacationed in Idaho, four decades ago, she decided never to leave. She took on a variety of bookkeeping and banking roles in Ketchum and Hailey businesses, including lengthy stints with the Sheepskin Coat Factory and Evergreen Landscaping Company. She also took full advantage of the outdoor enticements - a little hunting, scaling Mounts Borah and Whitney, downhill and cross-county skiing, and lots of hiking. She had the dubious honor of having the August 1992 wildfire name the "Ro Fire" after her former husband, a fire team worker, suggested the name. Ro's private life revolved around her Wood River Valley friends and her dog Lucy. Highpoints in her daily life included gardening, volunteering, especially for the local Hunger Coalition, and reading. She enthusiastically kept up on current events and the history she read enhanced everyone's knowledge in international travels with friends and family. Her family was always primary and in her last years she focused her love on her two grandchildren, Nolan and Norah. Her son, Christopher Coupe, daughter-in-law Leanne and the two grands are residents of Lewiston. She is also survived by two sisters and a brother. Ro will be buried in the Hailey Cemetery staying in Idaho forever.
