Our beloved mother Rosemary Gilly passed away on October 14, 2025. She was born on October 16, 1929, in Chicago, the third of four children born to Rose Mayerhofer Krause and Henry Krause.
Rosemary is lovingly remembered by her children, Linda Wegner, Marcia (Jerry) Ciffone, Donna Mirro, and Michael (Michelle) Gilly; grandchildren, Kelly (John) Klehm, Nicole Farrow, Michael (Meghan) Ciffone, Nicholas (Alyssa) Ciffone, Stephanie Gilly, and Caroline Gilly. Rosemary also has six great grandchildren: Boston Farrow, Brooklyn Farrow, William Klehm, Riley Ciffone, Nolan Ciffone and Felix Ciffone.
Rosemary was preceded in death by Earl Gilly, loving husband of 73 years, Rose Burtzlaff, her mother, Bernard Burtzlaff, her stepfather, Henry Krause, her father and brothers Robert Krause, Henry Krause and Paul Krause. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law Roger Mirro.
Rosemary was an exemplary wife, homemaker and mother. She also worked in the cash office for fifteen years at Marshall Fields in Schaumburg once her children got older. She lived her life with courage, love, devotion and faith. She faithfully served in many volunteer positions at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Barrington. Rosemary was an artisan known for sewing, knitting and in later years, designing and sewing quilts. She cherished her life with our dad whether it was the small moments, celebrations, or vacations.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren as well as her great grandchildren who brought her special joy.
Visitation will be Friday, October 24, 2025, from 10 a.m. to time of Funeral 11 a.m. all at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 720 Dundee Avenue, Barrington, IL.
Interment to follow Funeral at Evergreen Cemetery.
Luncheon will be provided at St. Matthew Lutheran Church following the interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Rosemary’s name can be given to St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
