Rosemary (Rose) Swinburne passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 11, 2024. With her husband John holding her hand, and her family by her side, she was received into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was born in Muskegon, Michigan on February 24, 1949, to Loraine (VanderMolen) and Roland Huff. On November 11, 1967, she married the love of her life, John Swinburne. They walked through life together for 56 years. Their marriage was always God-centered, motivated by love, and filled with humor and laughter.
Her greatest accomplishment in life was raising their five children. She thought being a mom was the greatest joy in life until she became a grandmother. She perfected that. She spent so much of her life serving others. While Dad was the local celebrity of our family, Mom was the strength behind him. Dad was on the track coaching and Mom was the cheerleader and the organizer. It wouldn't be unusual for Dad to suddenly invite a track team over for a spaghetti dinner or a pancake breakfast. No one ever left her house hungry. Her home was always opened to anyone, whether family by blood or family by love.
She spent many years taking care of others. She opened her home to both of her grandmothers, her mom, her uncle, and even her next-door neighbors. And over the last 22 years she dedicated her life to the health and care of her husband.
She never liked being in the spotlight but was always the strength and the foundation for her family. She taught us how to live, how to give to others, how to love, and how to follow Jesus. And through all of it, she never looked for the applause of others. It was genuine, just who she was.
Her legacy of faith and service lives on through her loving husband, John, as well as her five children and their families: Heather, Jeff, Johnathan, Michael, and Natalie Hall; Shannon, Michael, Emily, and Nicole Faust; Carrie and Michael Lukasek; Scott, Alicia, Trey, Sloan, Tripp, and Bailee Swinburne; David and Amanda Swinburne. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon (Jerry) Draughn.
Rose is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Huff, and her Godly parents, Bob and Janet Wills. While her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit of love, kindness, and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her.
In her departure, Rose leaves behind a profound legacy of faith, love, and compassion, inspiring all who knew her to emulate her unwavering devotion to family and service to others. May her soul rest in eternal peace, knowing she touched countless lives with her grace and kindness.
A Celebration of Life Service for Rosemary will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Anchor Point Bible Church, 635 Seminole Road in Norton Shores, MI. A Visitation will take place on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Anchor Point Bible Church.
