Rosendo "Champo" Cervantez was called home to be with the Lord on April 15, 2025, at the age of 82. He passed peacefully in Pearland, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Rosendo was born on October 10, 1942, in Raymondville, Texas, to Jose and Margarita Cervantes.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary Cervantes, who was his rock and life partner. Together, they built a home filled with love, strength, and faith. He is also survived by his two daughters, Terry Davila and Elizabeth Cervantez; his son, Ronald Cervantes; and daughter-in-law, Amanda Cervantes. He was one of eight brothers and leaves behind six loving brothers and their wives, who shared a lifetime of memories with him.
Rosendo was a proud and devoted grandfather to Priscilla Baker, Linda Perez, Crystal Castaneda, Anthony Cervantes, John Davila, Jose Albert Davila, Corey Walton, and Jacob Cervantez. His joy only multiplied with the arrival of his eight great-grandchildren, who brought him endless smiles and filled his later years with light and laughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Margarita Cervantes, and his dear brother, Fidencio "Cheetah" Cervantes. We take comfort in knowing they are now joyfully reunited in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
Rosendo will be remembered for his unwavering love, his gentle spirit, and the selfless way he poured into the lives of his family. Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and the assurance that he now rests in God's perfect peace.
He lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day."
