Rosetta V. (Karls) Kraus, age 90, of Mount Calvary, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the Villa Rosa in Mount Calvary where she resided for the past 2 ½ years.
She was born March 1, 1935, the daughter of Herman & Elizabeth (Boehnlein) Karls.
Rosetta married Anthony F. Kraus at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown on August 26, 1952. Tony preceded her in death on July 18, 1995.
Rosetta & Tony farmed in the Town of Forest near Mount Calvary for 37 years before retiring and moving to the Village of Mount Calvary.
Rosetta was a member of Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-Holy Cross Site and the Christian Women's Society.
Rosetta worked for many years at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home as a CNA and then later volunteered sewing and making quilts at the Villa Loretto. She loved her Villa family as she spent her last years there. She enjoyed daily activities with fellow residents, especially card playing and bingo.
Survivors include her five children, Francis (Pat) Kraus, Ken (Diane) Kraus, Mary (Joe) Bord, Mark (Maureen) Kraus, and Cindy (Pete) Brenner; 17 grandchildren, Christina (Brad) Jaeger, Julie Kestell (special friend, Chris), Jenny (Dave) Burns, Nicole (Lance) Lewis, Kim (Dan) Kuhl, Tony Kraus, Samantha Kraus, Michelle (Scott) Schimmel, Kelly (Jason) Ferguson, Jake (Nicole) Kraus, Adam (Brittany) Kraus, Tim Kocos, Rebecca (Dave) Hesse, Kevin Kocos (fiancée, Heather), Tyler (Melissa) Brenner, Colin Brenner, Hailey Brenner (special friend, Payton); 25 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; her sisters & brother, Ludina Schmitz, Betty Mae Kraus, Shirley Jacques, and Andy (Geraldine) Karls; sisters-in-law, Betty Jane Kraus, Bernice Kraus, and Marlene Kraus. She is further survived by many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Anthony; daughter-in-law, Deb Kraus; a great-grandchild; her father-in-law & mother-in-law, William & Agnes Kraus; her brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Elmer Schmitz, Benno Kraus, Ray Jacques, Marvin Kraus, Evelyn (Al) Cords, Rosetta (Ralph) Ries, Jerome Kraus, Ralph Kraus, Alex Kraus, Jeanette Kraus, Genevieve Kraus, Charlie (Tootie) Kraus; her Goddaughter, Joan Marshall; and many friends.
A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4:30 PM on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-Holy Cross Site, 308 S. County Road W,
Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Rev. Larry Abler, OFM Cap & Rev. Oliver Bambenek, OFM will officiate. Rosetta will be interred next to her husband, Anthony, at the Shrine of Rest Chapel Mausoleum at Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery in Fond du Lac on Friday morning at 10:00 AM.
Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Rosetta's family at the church in Mount Calvary on Thursday, January 29th from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
Rosetta's family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to the staff and nurses at the Villa Rosa for their care and compassion towards our mom. We were fortunate to have each and everyone of you caring for her. She loved you all. A very special thank you to the hospice nurses that played an important part in her care all the way to the end. Thank you for being there for her and our family.
