Rosina Buell, age 89, of Vestal, NY went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, November 8, 2024, joining her daughter Dawn and beloved husband of sixty-six years Francis (Frank) in eternal glory. She was born July 23, 1935 in Buffalo, NY to Nicholas and Tessa Geraci. She is survived by her daughter Cindi Conway (husband Shawn), son Jeff (wife Christine), son Christopher, son-in-law Joseph Coudriet III, twelve grandchildren, and twenty-two great grandchildren.
Rosina loved her family and kept a treasure-trove of memories with her at all times. These treasures filled every available space. Framed pictures of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Important moments in time: graduation pictures, holding a grandson's arm at a wedding, surrounded by her nephews, sons, daughters, a good day with the brother she lost too soon smiling beside her.
But most cherished were those pictures of her beloved husband, Frank. She kept one such picture close to her in the last year following his death: the two of them at a wedding dressed in their evening best, together, beside a grand piano, looking very distinguished. Another, this time a close-up: his face, the smile she fell in love with when they first met, watching her from the dresser.
Rosina met Frank at the Italian Club in Corry, PA while she was visiting her family. She brought warmth to Frank's life. In return, he gave her his love, his dedication, his purpose. And together, traveling across the country through the years, they built a family and a home, not tied to any individual place. Wherever they were, whoever they were with, wherever they had love - that was home - whether that home was in Connecticut, Missouri, Iowa, Buffalo, Syracuse, or Binghamton.
Over time, their home expanded. It included children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, strangers who became family too. And in this home, Rosina was Mom, Mama, Ro-Ro, Mama Ro, Babi Ro. She loved to hear children playing in the living room, cherished when little ones tugged at her. She would sit and ask about their lives, how they were getting on, tell them how she was praying for them.
In fact, Rosina considered prayer a divine mission of hers. She devoted countless hours praying for others, whether for a family member, a fellow church member, or even those strangers who became family. And often she would remind those around her to remember God's love, to remember "who you are and whose you are."
For, in this home called Rosina's life, love was freely given. It was sprinkled on every chicken cutlet, salad dressing, spinach ball, spiedini, cheesecake. She used ingredients anyone could buy at a store, but when she put them together and you stood in her presence it just tasted like someone cared for you.
It was this magical, warm, embracing love Rosina's family felt at every holiday. The same warmth that gave her family the traditions they will continue to celebrate: lighting the candle on a birthday cake for Jesus, Christmas cookies, the "game". The same warmth her family felt holding her hand at her deathbed.
Though they miss her dearly, Rosina's family also has joy in knowing that the magic of her warmth and love will stay with them and with future generations; that she has gone home to dwell in the place prepared for her by Jesus, with Dawn and Frank in eternity.
A Celebration of Life In Christ will take place on Monday, November 18th at 12:00 PM with calling hours from 11:00-12:00 pm at Family Life Church, 157 Clark Street, Vestal, NY 13850. The service will also be available on the Family Life Church YouTube page. Burial will be private.
