Roslyn Barker, 89, of
Bath, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in her daughter and son-in-law's home in Florida on December 4th, 2025, with her daughters, Donna and Susan, and her son-in-law, Edward, by her side. Born to humble beginnings at Metropolitan Hospital on Roosevelt Island in New York, Roslyn was one of three children. She had a brother, Billy, and a sister, Birdlee. Roslyn went on to be one of the few women to work on the floor at the 3M Company. She later moved to
Toms River, NJ, where she displayed true entrepreneurial spirit, establishing numerous small businesses over the years, including a summer hot dog vending stand, a Bible bookstore, and a novelty balloon gift shop. She enjoyed staying current with the latest technology, crafting and taking on new projects, her nightly tradition of watching Jeopardy, and cherished time spent laughing, talking, and sharing moments with her friends and family.
Roslyn studied Theology at the Christ for the Nations Bible Association in
Dallas, TX, where she became an ordained chaplain. She dedicated her life to serving her community and was a steadfast advocate for the homeless, incarcerated women, struggling youth, and families navigating infant loss. Throughout her years of ministry, she served as chaplain in multiple prisons, children's homes, juvenile detention centers, and hospitals in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Eventually, she found her spiritual home at Life Church Allentown and Nazareth, where she was affectionately known as "Pastor Roz" and offered mentorship, counsel, and wisdom on marriage and life to countless couples and individuals.
She is survived by her children and their spouses Donna and Edward Steinhauer and Susan and John Thomas; her grandchildren Faye Dale, Mary Elizabeth Roth, Matthew Roth, and Michelle Thomas; and her great-grandchildren Paul Morse, Madison Morse, Devon Mahaney, Gianna Jefferson, and Serenity Jefferson.
Great-grandma, Grandma, Mom, and Pastor Roz will be deeply missed, but those who knew her take comfort in knowing that the impact she made on every life she touched has created a ripple effect reaching countless others, a legacy that will continue to carry her influence forward for years to come for the Kingdom of God.
Many years ago, Roslyn made the thoughtful decision to donate her body to science in order to contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge and education. Her wish has been honored, and she will be helping students at the University of Central Florida this spring. A Celebration of Life will be held at Life Church Nazareth in August 2026. In lieu of flowers, her family kindly asks that donations be made to the church in her honor.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness," 2 Timothy 4:7-8
