Ross Allen Glasmann of Middletown, CT passed away at the age of 75 on January 1, 2025. Allen, as he was always called, was born in Ogden, UT in 1949. He grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated from Carlmont High School in Belmont, CA in 1967. He went on to study chemistry at Western State College in Gunnison, CO, earning both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees while enjoying many years of skiing at Crested Butte. Allen graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1982 and remained in Kansas to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Allen moved to Connecticut in 1986 to begin his career as a physician. He spent the entirety of his medical career in Connecticut where he had experience in private practice, medical centers, and also teaching medical students through the University of Connecticut. In his later years, Allen opened New England Medical Aesthetics in Avon, CT where he worked until his retirement.
Allen was the proud father of three children, a step-father, and a grandpa. He was also an avid hobbyist who had a myriad of interests and enjoyed trying new activities throughout his life. Fishing, an interest that was inspired by his own father, was a life-long passion. He also enjoyed hunting, fly tying, skiing, photography, boating, woodworking, wine collecting, cooking, and electronics. Some of his favorite memories were formed while traveling to his beloved Hawaii, attending wine tastings, and participating in an epic fly fishing trip to Alaska.
Allen was as smart as one could be in the sciences. His understanding of chemistry, physics, and biology was second to none. These skills came in handy to him as both a doctor and a science enthusiast, and he was happy to share his vast knowledge despite the complexity of the subject.
Allen is survived by his first wife Diane MacLaren, mother of his daughters Allison Reiner (Chris Reiner) and Paula Glasmann (Ryan Corry); second wife Deborah Seely, mother of his son Ross Glasmann; step-daughter Heather Orsi (Nicholas Orsi); grandchildren Elsie and Emmett Reiner and Caden Corry; and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Letha Glasmann; his younger brother, Scottie Glasmann; and his son-in-law, Chris Reiner.
