Roswitha Hammang, age 86 of Imlay City, passed away, Monday, November 4, 2024. She was born December 8, 1937, the daughter of Eduard and Josefine Wimmer in Schwarzach, Austria. She married the love of her life, Anton Hammang on April 23, 1957 in Salzburg, Austria. They both moved to Detroit and then to Warren, where they started their family together. For a period Roswitha was a stay at home mom. Later she started working at Winkleman's and retired after 26 years. Roswitha was a voracious reader. She also enjoyed listening to classical music. Her family and friends were very important to her. She will be missed by many.
Roswitha is survived by her daughter Karin (Trevor Carey) Walker of Amherstburg, Ontario, son-in-law Jeff Wisner of Whidby Island, Washington 4 grandchildren: Melanie (Derrick) LaPorte of Lasalle, Ontario, Megan (Dave) MacIntyre of Surry, British Columbia, Jennifer Greer of Everett, Washington and Samantha (Ross Walburn) Wisner of Ellerslie, Georgia and 6 great-grandchildren: Andre, Abrielle, Jonathan, Owen, Rhyatt and Rebel. Also surviving siblings Thussi (Walter) Jordans of Dusseldorf, Germany and Edi (Elfrid) Wimmer of Salzburg, Austria. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton Hammang and daughter Ingrid Wisner.
The Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 12 Noon with Memorial Visitation from 11:00am until the service. Memorial Donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Roswitha's name. Please share a story or photos on the Memory Page for Roswitha.
