Roxana Lucas "Roxie Lucas" Trammell

Roxana Lucas Trammell, best known as Roxie Lucas, passed away on October 4, 2025 at the age of 74. Raised in Texas and based in New York, Roxie was an accomplished stage actor for more than four decades, and a joyful, exuberant spirit to those who knew her.
Born Aug. 25, 1951 in Memphis and raised in Houston, Texas, she attended Bellaire High School and University of Houston, beginning her life as a performer studying with legendary acting mentor Cecil Pickett and dance teacher Patsy Swayze. Roxie and her husband Kenneth Trammel moved to New York City in the late-1970s, and became fixtures in their neighborhood in Manhattan's Upper West Side. Her Broadway credits include The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Harrigan 'n Hart, My Favorite Year, and Damn Yankees. She was a mainstay in the acclaimed off-Broadway musical parody Forbidden Broadway in the 1980s, and appeared in many other off-Broadway and touring productions. She also appeared in a number of nationally televised commercials. In her life and her work, she was a trouper.
Roxie was preceded in death by her loving husband Kenneth Trammell, her sister Colleen Lucas, and parents William H. Lucas Sr. and Goldie Webb Lucas. She is survived by her brother William H. Lucas Jr. and nephews Peter Lucas and Dana Lucas.
There will not be an official memorial service, but the family hopes you will celebrate her in your own ways. Roxie and Ken were long-time supporters of the Central Park Conservancy and New York Public Library, if you wish to donate in their honor.
