Mr. Roy Abercrombie, age 72 of Boaz, died on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at his residence.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at McRae Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Abercrombie, Bro. Austin Abercrombie, Bro. Dale Powell, Bro. Jamie Rowan officiating. Interment to follow in Smith Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 21,2022 from 11:30a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at McRae Funeral Home.
Mr. Abercrombie was born in Alabama on February 24, 1950, to W.C. & Ruby Inez Abercrombie. Roy was a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, and precious great grandfather. He was “Uncle Roy” to all! He served a combined total of 35 years in law enforcement. Roy was a native of Etowah County. He was a member of Carnes Chapel First Congregational Methodist Church in Attalla, Alabama for 58 years and a deacon for 42 years. Roy was presently a founding member and deacon of Shepherd’s Way Church in Boaz, Alabama. He is now celebrating in Heaven with the Master… probably watching Auburn football and eating chicken nuggets, peanuts and drinking a peanut butter milkshake.
Mr. Abercrombie is survived by his Wife: Judy Abercrombie. Sons & Daughters-in-Law: Tim & Chrystie Abercrombie of Albertville, Michael & Teresa Abercrombie of Boaz. Daughter & Son-in-Law: Lisa & Dale Powell of Boaz. Grandchildren: Rachel Causey, Alexis Powell, Daniel Powell, Kimberly Powell, Will Abercrombie, Drew Abercrombie, Nicole Abercrombie, Grace Abercrombie, Austin Abercrombie, Amy McCord, Tyrone Jackson. 8 Great Grandchildren. Brothers & Sistesr-in-Law: Jimmy & Sue Abercrombie of Birmingham, Danny & Pam Abercrombie of Rainbow City. Sister & Brother-in-Law: Charlotte & Herman McMurtrey of Boaz. A Host of Nieces & Nephews.
Mr. Abercrombie was preceded in death by his Parents: W.C. & Ruth Inez Abercrombie, Sister: Helen McCollum.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Cash, Will Abercrombie, Drew Abercrombie, Daniel Powell, Jaeron Wise, Jason Gillilan.
The family would like to think Davita Dialysis, Encompass Home Health & Hospice, as well as all family and friends who helped in any way. We could not have made this journey without you.
