Roy Ellis Alexander was born May 27, 1937, in Murfreesboro, TN to parents who preceded him in death, Ramsey Alexander and Georgia Lee Marable Alexander of Murfreesboro, TN. He slipped away peacefully at the age of 87 on Monday, November 18, 2024, to be with his Lord. He was a resident at Harmony Victory Station Memory Care of Murfreesboro.
Roy was drafted into the Army in 1961 and married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Jean Murray, also of Murfreesboro, on December 26, 1961. They were married for almost 63 years. Two children were produced from this union, Torin Dru Alexander and Djuna Monique Alexander.
He was a draftsman by trade, but to those who knew him well, he was a man who loved his church, Allen Chapel AME Church. He served the church as a Steward, Trustee, and Treasurer for over 40 years.
Roy leaves the following family to cherish his memory: his wife, Barbara Alexander; two children, Torin (Charvonne) Alexander of Winston-Salem, NC, and Djuna Darnell of Goodyear, AZ; four grandchildren, Danielle (William) Johnson of Madison, WI, Noah Darnell of Killeen, TX, Nathan and Michaela Alexander of Winston-Salem, NC; and one great-grandchild, Alexander Johnson of Madison, WI. He also leaves behind one brother, Ramsey Alexander. Two other siblings, Walter Alexander and David McKinnley Alexander, preceded him in death. In addition, there is a host of other family and friends who hold him dearly.
