Roy Alan Davey
June 4, 1947 - December 17, 2025
Roy Alan Davey, a devoted father, loyal servant of Christ and cherished friend, passed away on December 17, 2025. His passing leaves behind a deep sense of loss, and his legacy is defined by love, intellect, generosity, curiosity, and faith.
Born in
Rochester, New York, Roy spent more than half of his life in New England. He attended Syracuse University in 1965 and ultimately earned his Master's degree in Architecture, which he applied skillfully to the facilities management industry for more than 40 years. He helped build the world's first space inventory system, INSITE, at MIT, geared towards expanding colleges and universities and managing the demanding task of the scaling process. In 1983, he married Janet Peterson. Together, they welcomed three children into their lives. The Davey family shared idyllic years in North Andover, Massachusetts, and relocated to Suwanee, Georgia, in 2000.
An avid reader and lifelong learner, Roy read more than 50 books a year and delighted in sharing meaningful passages and ideas with his children. He counted himself among the generation of early adopters of computer technology and the Internet, and he reveled in educating others about the wonders of living in a digital age. Roy was also passionate about model railroads, painstakingly designing and building his own model in his later years. On weekends, Roy could often be found reading, cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs or socializing within the deep community he built in Georgia. Roy's easygoing demeanor and selfless charity toward others is reflected in the scores of close friendships he sustained for decades. He volunteered countless hours at his church as an active member of the handbell choir, leader of the men's fellowship bible study group, and a Stephen Minister. Roy's admirable work ethic was instilled in the many values he passed along to his children.
Above all, Roy's greatest passion was his family. He spoke of his children fondly and constantly. At the time of his passing, he was a proud grandfather and looked forward to visiting his granddaughter in Denver multiple times each year.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Homer S. Davey and Margaret. E. Herman, and he is survived by his three beloved children, Lauren Hunter, Christopher Davey and Matthew Davey; his son-in-law, Blake Hunter; his granddaughter Sophia Hunter; and his brothers, Kenneth Davey and Russell Davey. We are reassured that through Roy's unwavering faith in God, his spirit was welcomed with open arms by our Almighty Father in Heaven.
Memorial services will be held at Johns Creek Presbyterian Church in Duluth, Georgia, on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 1 p.m. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
