Roy Johnson Obituary
Mr. Johnson was born on June 4, 1939. He was one of fourteen children born to Gaither Henson and Ester Amelia Lewis Johnson . He was a great help on the family farm growing up. After his graduation from Sequatchie County High School he would go on to serve in the US Army from 1957- 1964. In addition to farm work, Mr. Johnson worked as a truck driver, an employee of Dupont and also worked for an antique store. He ran and won the bid for Road Commission of Sequatchie County in 1984 and served the county in that position until 2006 when he retired. Mr. Johnson attended Way of the Cross Baptist Church. He loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his brothers, Radis, Willis, Buford, Bobbie, Carroll and Ernest; sisters, Doris Johnson Clements and Alene Johnson Gray.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 44 years, Audrea "Dean" Sprouse Johnson; siblings, Clyde Johnson, Ray Johnson, Helen (Henry) Broom, Lois (Roy) Webb and Alice Greer along with many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Mr. Johnson's family would like to thank NHC Sequatchie and Caris Hospice for their exceptional care.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Ewton Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Bro. Lanny Tate officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Cemetery. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.
