Roy Lee Kronenberg passed away peacefully with his wife Linda by his side on March 11, 2025, in Rockett, Texas, after living courageously with cancer.
Roy was born on September 14, 1950, to Isadore and Norma Kronenberg in Dallas, Texas. His family moved to DeSoto in 1962 where he attended DeSoto High School in the class of 1969.
Roy was drafted into the Marines in January 1970 serving a tour of duty in various locations, including Vietnam, earning a Rifle Marksman Badge, National Defense Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. Roy remained in the Marine Reserves until January 19, 1976. He was honorably discharged in February of 1971.
Roy met the love of his life, Linda Brock in 1973. They were married May 21, 1976, and celebrated many happy years together.
Roy began his HVAC career in the early 1970's. He started his own business, RK Heating and Air where he worked tirelessly serving his customers until his retirement in 2018.
Roy's favorite pastime, including his family, was restoring old cars. He was an outstanding member of the Dallas Area Street Rods. He was most proud of his '37 Buick coupe. His Buick and '69 Chevelle convertible won many trophies in area car shows. He made many lifelong friends at car shows that he was instrumental in organizing.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his Uncle Lou Kronenberg and his brother David Kronenberg.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Linda, her daughter, Norma and husband, Joe Rust of Waxahachie, three grandchildren that he helped raise, Chris and his wife, Tiffany of DeSoto, Jessica and Joey of Palmer. He is also survived by his sister, Rhea and husband Eugene of Temple, along with numerous nieces and nephews and many friends that will miss him.
A memorial will be held at a later date, officiated by Jerry Fellers, his nephew, at West-Hurtt Funeral Home in Desoto, Texas.
Please feel free to honor Roy by driving your street rod or old car to the funeral and interment at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Flowers are appreciated or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Wounded Warriors Project.
