Roy Leonard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Best Funeral Services Peoria on Jan. 6, 2026.
Roy David Leonard, 78, of Apache Junction, Arizona, passed away on January 2, 2026. Born on November 12, 1947, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Roy lived a life defined by service, humor, and a deep love for his family.
Roy proudly served his country as a veteran of the Vietnam War. His commitment to helping others continued long after his military service. Over the years, he worked as a firefighter, an HVAC technician, and later as a registered nurse - roles that reflected his steady hands, big heart, and unwavering dedication to those around him.
Outside of work, Roy found joy in the simple things: fishing, camping, and spending time with his daughter and grandchildren. He had an incredible sense of humor and a booming laugh that could fill any room. Halloween was his favorite time of year, and he loved dressing up to give people a good scare - always in fun, always with that unmistakable twinkle in his eye. To those who knew him, Roy was a gentle giant whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and love.
Roy is survived by his daughter, Wendy Leonard, and his grandchildren Tyler Leonard, Skyla Sharp, and Heidi Sharp. His memory will live on in their hearts and in the countless stories of laughter and good times he leaves behind.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, with details to be announced. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Roy David Leonard, please visit our floral store.
