Roy J. Lunk, 85, resident of Des Allemands, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024.
Visitation will be held at St. Michael the Archangel, on Friday, December 27th from 9:30 am until service time. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am with burial to follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery.
Roy is survived by his wife, Patsye Vial Keller Lunk; children, Kelly Lunk, Scott Lunk (Kelly) and Chris Lunk; step-children, Claire Whittaker (Merrill), Connie Lauve (Randy), Tommy Keller (Denyse), Michael Keller (Stacie), Ron Keller (Teri) and Laurie Walters (Michael); grandchildren, Kyla, Sean and Kaitlyn; step-grandchildren, Dylan, Garrett, Peyton, Gabrielle, Micque, Kamryn, Reagan, Olivia, Noah, Luke and Brady; great-grandchildren, Jayke and Greyson; siblings, Ruth L. Carlos, Ronald Lunk and Roxane L. Dufrene.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marguerite Vicknair Lunk; first wife, Iris S. Lunk; son, Shane Lunk; grandson, Trent Lunk.
Upon retiring as an Area Supervisor after a 37-year career in the oil field, Roy became an active member in the St. Charles Parish community serving on the board for Triad, Council on Aging and the St. Gertrude Pastoral Council. He wrote and published three books on Des Allemands history and published a cookbook with his award-winning Catfish Festival recipes.
Roy was an avid fisherman. On days he wasn’t spending his free time on the water, you could find him woodworking, cooking, crafting artwork, making crafts and gifts, and even fabricating his own fishing lures.
In lieu of flowers, Mass intentions at St. Michael the Archangel are preferred.
