Roy Dwayne Lynch

Roy Dwayne Lynch, 84, of Aztec NM, passed away on December 10, 2025, while at home - just as he'd always planned.
Roy was born February 18, 1941 in Haworth, OK, the son of Roy Lee Lynch and Willie Earline (Foster) Lynch.
Roy graduated from Aztec High School in 1959 and received a letter for playing baseball. Then in 1984, he earned an Associates Degree in Mortuary Science from San Antonio College.
Directly out of high school, Roy enlisted in the United States Air Force and served until honorably discharged in 1979. He served two tours in Vietnam (1965-66 and 1971-72) and filmed multiple nuclear weapon tests as part of Operation Dominic around the Christmas and Johnston Islands.
Roy married Karen Lucimae Collins on September 3, 1961 at the Aztec Methodist Church. They have two children Shannon Lee and Teri Leone.
After retiring from the Air Force and earning his degree, he started working as a funeral director, first in San Antonio, TX and then continuing in Aztec, NM.
Roy was a Master Mason belonging to both San Juan Lodge #25 and was a founding member of Four Corners Daylight Lodge #80. He was also a member of the York Rite and a 32nd degree Mason in the Scottish Rite.
Remaining to cherish Roy's memory are his wife, Karen; son Shannon and his wife, Mariel (Webb) Lynch; daughter, Teri and her husband Willie Shelton; one granddaughter, Shannon Kelsi (Lynch) Damron; his sister, Helen Marie (Lynch) Spence; his sister-in-law, Lydia Faye (Hasten) Lynch; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Roy in death are his parents and brother, Delbert Earl Lynch.
Memorial services will be held at Aztec Methodist Church on December 19, 2025 at 11:00am, with Pastor Jay Armstrong officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Shiprock VFW Post #9517.
Interment will be at the Aztec Cemetery at a future date.
