Roy Thomas Mahan, 65, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at his home in Ider, Alabama.

A funeral service to honor Roy's life will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 1:00 PM ET in the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Following the service, Roy will be laid to rest at Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the service hour.

Born on October 2, 1958, Roy grew up in the New Salem area with his loving grandparents. On May 4th, 1980, he married Ivy Renea Mashburn and together they raised four children, creating a lifetime of beautiful memories together.  He dedicated many years of service as a truck driver with Saia Trucking and was a faithful member of Griffin Holiness Church.  He loved his family, hunting, fishing, gardening, and his dog, Cutter.

Roy’s memory lives on through his children, Matt (Heather) Mahan, Josh (Erica) Mahan, Mackenzie (Alicia) Mahan, and Miranda (Evan) Clayton; mother, June Gravitt; sisters, Kellie (Kenny) Wilson, Becky (David) Birchfield, and Jan (Tim) Brooks; grandchildren, Landen Mahan, Kinzlee Mahan, Dawson Mahan, Jacob Mahan, Lila Clayton, and Sophia Clayton; several extended family members and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Renea Mashburn Mahan; brother, Tim Powell; as well as grandparents, Raymond and Pearl Mahan.

Roy had a deep love for his family and even though the family is deeply saddened by his passing, the family rejoices in knowing he is finally reunited with his wonderful wife, Renea.
