Roy R. Patterson Sr.

Roy R. Patterson, Sr., 83, of Manalapan Township passed away on January 13, 2026 with his family at his side. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and spent most of his life living in New Jersey. He was married to his loving wife, Maureen, for 41 years. They spent many years traveling and enjoying time with family. Roy enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling with friends. He had a great wit, and his family will always remember the twinkle in his eye. The pearly gates just got a lot more interesting.

Roy had many careers in his life. He started as a Service Manager for Sears out of college before being promoted to General Manager. He then became the Vice President of Sales/Marketing for the marketing division of the Harlem Globetrotters. After this he moved to the fuel oil industry where he founded his own company, Energy Sales Associates. He then because the Vice President for Sales/Marketing for F.C. Haab Co. followed by a period as President of Mid States Supply. He returned to the fuel oil industry at the end of his career, serving as Executive Director of the Delaware Valley Fuel Dealers Association, Better Home Heat Council of Delaware Valley and Delaware Valley Consumer Education Council. He was especially proud of his volunteer work as the Pro-Bono Director of Public Relations for the Safe Streets Alliance in Washington, DC.

Roy was a communicant of St. Gabriel's Church, Marlboro Township and a member of Bishop John C. Reiss Council #15964, Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are his wife, Maureen Joyce Finn Patterson; a son, Rick Patterson (Robin Goodrich); three daughters, Terri Patterson (Gary Walter), Laura Picardi (Matthew), and Dana Lezaj (Thomas); seven grandchildren, Kristen Walter, Chris Walter, Andrew Picardi (Lauren), Justin Picardi, and Anna Rockmore (Zack), and Sean Lezaj, Luke Lezaj; and a great grandson, Cooper Picardi; a sister-in-law, Bobbi Jean Patterson; and a nephew, Bob Patterson, III. Roy was predeceased by his parents, Robert V Patterson, Sr and Helen Patterson, and his brother Robert V Patterson, Jr.

The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 9 to 10:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated the St. Gabriel's Historic Church, 549 Route 520, Marlboro at 11 am followed by entombment at St. Gabriel's Mausoleum.
