Roy Floyd Redden of Utopia passed away on January 7th peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 93.
Roy was better known as “Pop” by not only his family but everyone in his community. He married his sweet bride, Shirley Pink on November 19, 1950. They were married for 74 incredible years.His love for his wife, family, and Jesus was undeniable. He cherished his precious family and always looked forward to any family gatherings. He always had a smile, kind words, and pocket full of peppermints.Along with being a lifelong rancher, he owned and operated Roy Redden Construction for 35 years.
He was born on October 16, 1931 in Ft. Grant, Arizona to William and Katharine McNair. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Pink Redden, a daughter, Kerry Porter and husband, Bob of Utopia; a son, Rusty Redden and wife, Tacy of Utopia; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William McNair and Katharine Redden; stepfather, Paul Redden; five sisters, Wiliestell Howell, Betty Jo Schaefer, Wanda Neely, Wilma Kindred, and Nadine Haby; and three brothers, Crawford McNair, Burton McNair, and twin brother Ray Redden.
The family would like to thank Redona Roebuck, Ada Gazaway, Elnie Scott, and Renee Nichols who were his loving and very special caregivers.There will be a Celebration of Life held at Utopia Methodist Church on January 18, 2025 at 11:00 A.M.Memorial donations may be made to the Utopia Park Assoc., PO Box 61, Utopia, TX 78884, the Utopia Methodist Church, PO Box 388, Utopia, TX 78884, or any charity of your choice.
