Mr. Roy Lee Richardson, age 80, of Franklin, KY, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, KY.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will continue on Monday, April 8, 2024, from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 2:00 PM with interment to follow in Stevenson Church Cemetery in Simpson County, KY.
Roy was born on April 15, 1943 in Simpson County, KY to the late Jonas Theadore Richardson and the late Sadie Bell (Harris) Richardson. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Calvin Mallory and J.T. Richardson.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sue Richardson; 3 children, Cheri Vinson (Richard) of Franklin, KY, Trudie Hammond (Larry Cowles) of Franklin, KY and Holly (Vash) Richardson of Columbus, OH; 7 grandchildren, Jeremy Richardson, Billy West, Jr., Ashley Meyer, Ben Hammond, Alex Hammond, Logan (Ophelia) Grubbs and Chase (Max) Grubbs; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a brother, Ray Richardson; and several nieces and nephews.
Roy was a former member of East Side Baptist Church. He was retired from Friendly Furniture. Roy enjoyed arrowhead hunting, fishing, bottle hunting and building things out of wood. He was an outdoorsman and avid Pittsburg Steelers fan.
