Roy Gregory Shelnutt, 62 of Perry, GA walked through Heaven's gates on April 19, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. The services celebrating his life will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, 2:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory with a visitation 1 hour prior. Interment will be immediately following at Perry Memorial Gardens. Reverend Seth DeFoor will be officiating.
Gregg was born in Fort Valley, GA on August 21, 1961, to the late Roy Shelnutt and Mary Eugenia (Burkhalter) Shelnutt. He graduated from Perry High School in 1979, Go Panthers! Gregg was a self-employed carpenter for his own business for many years before retiring. He was instrumental in the remodeling of the historic Train Depot in Byron, GA. Gregg was previously employed at Blue Bird Wonder Lodge and the Bibb Company in Fort Valley, GA. He loved music and played many instruments such as the sax and piano, but was known for playing the bass guitar. Heaven is thumping a little louder now there is another bass player. He loved fishing, painting, and was the owner of the Chick Wagon. He was a faithful servant of Our Lord and Savior.
Along with his parents, Gregg is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet Sue (Luwman) Shelnutt.
Gregg is survived by his son: Benjamin Shelnutt (Kelly) of Bonaire, GA; daughter: Leah Baker (Robert) of Perry, GA; 9 grandchildren; sister: Tracie Daye (Daryl) of Fort Valley, GA; and brother: Joey Shelnutt (Dena) of Fort Valley, GA.
