Roy D. Smith

Roy D. Smith, 70, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2026, at 3:53 p.m. at the Cleveland Clinic, surrounded by his loving family.

Roy was born on August 28, 1955, in Lima, Ohio, to Arthur and Mary (Tucker) Smith, who preceded him in death. On July 16, 1976, he married Janette "Sue" (Smith) Smith, who survives in Lima, Ohio.

Roy graduated from Elida High School in 1973. He spent most of his working life as a truck driver, driving for Central Concrete (now Ernst Concrete), worked at Lima Armature, Wannemacher Trucking for many years, and later retiring from Linde Gas and Equipment.

Roy enjoyed golfing, camping, and traveling to various destinations with his wife Sue. He found peace while sailing at Grand Lake St. Marys. Above all, Roy cherished his wife and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. His beloved cat, BoBo, also held a special place in his heart.

Survivors include his wife, Janette "Sue" Smith; daughter, Janelle (Adam) Stone; son, Troy (Ashley) Smith; grandchildren, Suzy, Alex, and David; and brother, Linden (Janice) Smith.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Nelson (Patricia "Pat") Smith, and sister, Edith Harshbarger.

Inurnment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date at the convenience of the family.
