Roy Dee Stanford

FORT WORTH- Roy Dee Stanford of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 28th, 2024.
Roy Dee was born November 12th, 1931, in Austin, Texas, to Charles and Mattie (Jordan) Stanford. He graduated from Austin High School in 1950; it was here that Roy met his future wife, Margaret Heyer. After graduating from high school, Roy earned a bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a master's degree from Southern Methodist University. After graduating from UT Austin, he married his high school sweetheart Margaret. Together, they raised two children and enjoyed a life full of adventure and love. Roy was an avid University of Texas Longhorns fan, attending home football games for over sixty years. Professionally, Roy spent over 50 years working at Convair, General Dynamics, and Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth. He was proud to have worked on engineering designs for the F-16 and F-111, along with several other airplanes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, his parents, Charles and Mattie Stanford, and his brother, Charles Stanford.
Roy is survived by his two children, David Roy Stanford (Terry) of Fort Worth and Kathryn Ann Townsend of Dennis. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Adam Stanford (Courtney), Leigh Ann Castillion (Omar), and Andrew Townsend; his great-grandchildren, Thomas and Emilia Castillion; and many friends.
A memorial will be held at Greenwood Mausoleum, 3100 White Settlement Rd., on Saturday, December 7th, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Helping Hands fund at Arborlawn United Methodist Church or to Heart to Heart Hospice Care in Roy's memory.
Roy's kind spirit touched the lives of many. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
