Roy Gene Steadman
12/06/1956 - 02/27/2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Roy Steadman, a cherished father, grandfather, and proud Army veteran, who left us at the age of 68. Roy passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, resilience, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.
Born into a family of six, Roy was a caring and loving brother to his three brothers and two sisters. His sisters, Sara and Sally, who preceded him in death will be welcoming him into the gates of heaven, alongside with their mother and father. After graduating high school, Roy answered the call of duty and joined the Army, serving honorably for 5 years and 9 months, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was stationed in Germany and Fort Carson serving as a skilled Cannon Crewman. His military service instilled in him a strong sense of discipline and commitment, values that he carried throughout his life.
After his time in the military, Roy returned to his home state of Florida where he began his life of fatherhood. He channeled his skills and work ethic he acquired from his years in service into managing his own home repair and air conditioning business for over 30 years. His dedication to his craft and his clients earned him the respect and admiration of many in the community.
Roy was a devoted and hard working father to his two daughters, Christine Bahus (Steven) of North Carolina and Jessica Hilley of Tennessee. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and was always their biggest supporter. He took pride in knowing that he raised two strong independent women. His love extended to his six grandchildren: Jordan, Kyla, Evan of North Carolina & Trenton, Rylee, Conor of Tennessee. His grandchildren brought him endless joy and laughter. Roy cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories filled with love and adventure.
An avid outdoorsman, Roy found solace in nature through hunting, fishing, and exploring the great outdoors. His love for the outdoors was a reflection of his spirit-free, adventurous, and deeply connected to the world around him. He also had a great skill as a pool player, and was on a pool team. Roy loved sinking every ball he would call out, often using trick shots.
Roy's warmth, humor, and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel valued and loved, and his stories of service, family, and the outdoors will be remembered fondly by those who had the privilege of hearing them.
As we celebrate Roy's life, we remember a man who exemplified courage, love, and resilience. He leaves behind a family that will carry forward his legacy of strength and compassion.
Roy Steadman was laid to rest at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville with full military honors on March 10th, 2025 surrounded by his two daughters and grandchildren.
Roy Steadman will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
