Roy Elwood Teague Jr, of Kernersville, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 30th, 2023, at the age of 64 after a hard fought battle with cancer with his family by his side.
He was born on March 20th, 1959, in Danville, VA to Roy and Alice Teague. A graduate of George Washington High School and Danville Community College, he spent the first third of his life in Danville where he met his soulmate, Kris, at 15 years old, and welcomed their daughter Crystal in 1977. In 1983, he followed work to Gaffney, SC and again in 1986- this time to Kernersville, NC where the Teague family finally settled in a house that in every sense of the word, became a home.
Roy was a manager at Tyco/Amp for nearly 20 years before exploring entrepreneurship. He first opened K&R Communications, selling cell phones and pagers, in 1996 with his wife and friends just before he welcomed his first grandchild, a girl, that same year. 2001 was significant in the same way- Roy moved on to purchase C&C Sandblasting, a company he and his business partner ran for 20 more years before his retirement; and he welcomed his second grandchild, a boy.
You could often find him camping, going to the beach, watching football, or sitting by his pool listening to Rock 92; activities he enjoyed the most when shared with his family and friends. He was an avid NASCAR fan and visited the Bristol Motor Speedway every fall with his buddies. Every Saturday morning you could find him around Kernersville, yard sailing with his wife.
Roy was a loving husband, son, father and grandfather and he will be missed beyond measure. He is predeceased by his father Roy Teague Sr and sister Christine Martin. He is survived by his wife Kris Teague of Kernersville, NC; his daughter Crystal Hunt (Jody) of Archdale, NC; his grandchildren McKayla Teague and Dylan Crumbley of Kernersville, NC; his step-grandson Dylan Hunt of Archdale, NC; his mother Alice Teague of Kernersville, NC; and his beloved cat Mister.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 8th, 2023, at 11:00am at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home at 3950 Macy Grove Rd, Kernersville, NC 27284. The family will be accepting visitors for one hour prior to the service.
