Roy Eugene White, 82, resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.
Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, August 31, 2025 at 3:30 PM at Rose Hill Cemetery with Glenn Richardson Officiating and military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Shady Grove Church of Christ, 2080 Hoovers Rd, Duck River, TN 38454 or to the Fisher House Foundation, 12300 Twinbrook Parkway, Suite 410, Rockville, MD 20852. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.
Born January 7, 1943 in Centerville, TN, he was the son of the late Elbert White and the late Thelma King White. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1964, and was stationed aboard The USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He worked for Bell South as an Engineer for twenty five years, and after retiring, he worked as a long haul truck driver for twenty years. Roy attended Shady Grove Church of Christ.
Survivors include his son, Chandler White; step-daughter, Beth (Robert) Owen; sister, Becky (Mike) Lynch; brother, Ronnie (Nancy) White; grandchildren, Taylor Owen, and Hannah Owen; great-grandchildren, Mallory, and Lyric; and several nieces, and nephews.
In 1995 he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita Joyce White, whom he married in 1965; and in 2009, he was preceded in death by Glenda White, whom he married in 1997. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Freddie Ray White; sisters, Bobbie Jean White, and Wilma Tidwell; and granddaughter, Lauren Downs.
Active pallbearers will be Mark Curry, Justin Curry, Todd Curry, Mike Tidwell, Greg Andrews, and Tim Brewer. Honorary pallbearers will include Robert Owen, Mike Lynch, Howard White, past and present employees of Bell South, and members of Squadrons and Shipmates.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, staff, and caregivers of NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center, Alvin C. York VA Medical Center, Caris Hospice, Dr. Reams Powers, and Dr. Stephen Simmons.
